In this reading exercise, students read many words containing <oo> (e.g. “Zoom” and “room”). For efficiency and engagement, we find it best to work on extended code targets like <oo> while also working on reading fluency (accuracy, speed and expression) with sentences and short passages.

This reading workout is about a very frustrated young student who has been sent home to do his schooling by Zoom. He is unhappy about it and decides to share some of reasons he does not enjoy Zoom school.

This no-prep exercise can be used for:

• decoding practice; or
• word or sentence level written dictation (encoding) practice.
