(S112) Westmead Program for Stuttering: Robot Talking Activity Log

    $3.50 including GST

Lots of families love the Westmead Program for Stuttering, aka ‘robot talking’. But the biggest challenge is doing enough of it. The clinical trials talk about 4-6 sessions of 5-10 minutes each every day.

This one-page template is designed to motivate children who stutter to do the treatment and make it easier for parents to track robot-talking sessions.

The template is made available in both Word and PDF formats.

(S113) Westmead Program for Stuttering: Activity List

    $0.00 including GST

One of the hardest things with the Westmead Program for Stuttering – also known as Robot Talking – is finding the time to fit in practice 4-6 times a day. We all know that the best way to do it is to embed the practice in everyday routines.

A while back, one young client challenged me to come up with a list of activities he could use to practice his robot talking. Well, I love a good challenge! And I thought I’d share our list with you, too, for use with your own clients!

  • (S114) Stuttering Superhero Cards

    $5.99 including GST

For school kids, one aim of stuttering treatment is to help them to “own” and manage their fluency to maximise participation at school and in life, generally.

With school age-kids who stutter (and highly verbal preschoolers), we’ve been using trading cards to help underline and talk about different speech behaviours known to be compatible with increasing fluency and a sense of control.

We encourage kids and their families to edit, redesign, and rename the characters as they see fit to make them as relevant and interesting as possible. The cards are in PDF and Word formats and are editable.

    $5.99 including GST

This 40-page ‘no-preparation’ pack features 30 interesting, high-quality photographs that can be used for picture description tasks at all levels – from single words, all the way up to making inferences. The resource is suitable for face-to-face practice and telehealth (via video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Coviu and Skype).

Obviously, you want to pitch your questions about the pictures at a level that will promote your student’s or child’s fluency. To help find the right level of question to ask, we have adapted Marion Blank’s four levels of questioning. This model is based on the idea that kids first learn to understand and use language in very concrete ways based on what they see, hear and touch.
