In this reading exercise, students read many words containing <ew>, <ui>, and <ue> (e.g. “few”, “suit”, and “Sue”). For efficiency and engagement, we find it best to work on extended code targets like <ew>, <ui> and <ue>while also working on reading fluency (accuracy, speed and expression) with sentences and short passages.

This reading workout is about a pilot named Sue and her crew, including Stewart and Andrew, as they battle ash and the fires of Mount Doom on what was meant to be an easy flight to New Zealand. What will become of the crew? Let’s find out!
