Description
The Oakville Program is an evidence-based stuttering treatment designed by researchers at the Australian Stuttering Research Centre. It’s a hybrid of the Lidcombe Program and syllable timed speech, and is suitable for young school-age students who stutter.
For speech pathologists who want to trial the program, we’ve written a 39-page mini-client handbook composed of introductory sessions to the Oakville Program, broken into three, fully-scripted modules. It’s designed only for use by qualified clinicians.
Speech pathologists should of course study the Oakville Program manual in detail before administering the program for the first time. We developed the mini-handbook for use in our clinic to reduce implementation barriers and to increase client and family engagement. The mini-handbook is designed to help our fellow clinicians to help their clients by reducing session preparation time.
